Sodje Out For Season

Wednesday have suffered another injury blow with the news that star striker Akpo Sodje will be sidelined with an ankle injury for the rest of the season.

The former Port Vale man picked up the injury in the Owls' 2-1 defeat to Wolves last month and will have to undergo surgery to his ankle - ruling him out for the remainder of the campaign.

Sodje was set to be a key player in the Owls' battle against the drop, but the news has left Owls boss Brian Laws in need of another striker on an amaergency loan to bolster his squad.

He told the official SWFC site: 'Akpo is going in for an operation on his ankle and it's a big, big blow for myself and the team. But first and foremost we must concentrate on getting his ankle better for the long term.

'He has been an inspiration for us this season, some of his performances have been outstanding and his enthusiasm second to none. He wil be a big miss.'

Sodje adds to the injury to fellow strikers Francis Jeffers and Leon Clarke, who are both out long-term, leaving just Marcus Tudgay, Deon Burton and on-loan Enoch Showumni to fire the Owls to safety.

Just what you did not want to hear at this stage of the season!

I can't see Jeffers playing for us again this season too, i can't remember the last time when injuries were kind to us! We've been like this for 10+ years now! Always had more players in the treatment room than out on the pitch!

if the boys can produce the same performance as in the 2nd half against charlton then sodje will not be missed in the sense that he can now sit back and recover from this injury and focus on next season (in the championship). we have got to be positive!!

it shows that having a small squad is not the way we need somone to take over or next season will just be the same we cant rely on not havin injurys as this season has showed

Major blow but hopefully we can get another striker in, Sahar rumoured to be coming up for talks and fingers crossed Tudgay can keep up his form, Were good enough to stay up and we will.

Could have told you this when he got injured, infact i did!!! Oh well we still have super Leon Clarke for back up!
will it ever happen
unfortunate but you just av 2 get on with it. laws will replace him with someone have no fear. on lighter note if the club wants to save some money then they should shut down the hincliffe/jonk suite. its too comfy and warm in there thats why its always full.

I notice that Laws has given up on a 'Prolific, quality striker' and is now looking for someone who is 'hungry'. Sounds great, but remember when we got Agbonlahor, Murphy, Best - none of them were up to anything like the standard. Wouldn't mind any of them now, but it's a shame that we have to settle for someone unproven when we need the opposite.

carnt see you stopping up now lads, its a majour blow for you - on top of everything else you didnt need this.

f3ck off bfl. tried to speak sense to you but you carnt help your self can you. lowering the tone as always. sorry if i have offended anyone at the start of this rant

I've solved the mystery as to why we've had so many injuries. Look at the picture of our physio on swfc.co.uk. He's about 12 years old!!

just thought i'd do the honnest thing put my hands up and say sorry for the childish behaviour and comments. the banter is generally good and friendly but the bad language and constant cheap digs (inc all of us) wears abit thin. there are some genuine ppl on here inc mick, will it ever happen, been the main ones for me so please take my appologies thats to all of you, cheers.

This is unfortunate for your lot, unlucky. Just wanted to voice my small chuckle about "not minding" agbonlahor now. Very good.
