'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Strikers, Strikers, Everywhere!

Is Brian Laws the next Neil Warnock? From going to having almost no fit strikers for selection, the Owls seem to be linked with every striker under the sun - Izale McLeod being the latest.

Wednesday have already bolstered their attacking options with the loan additions of Enoch Showunmi and Ben Sahar from Bristol City and Chelsea respectively, following injuries to Francis Jeffers, Akpo Sodje and Leon Clarke.

But Laws may not stop there, with West Brom's out-of-favour marksman Craig Beattie being told he can leave West Brom on loan, with Wednesday set to sign the Scotsman according to media reports yesterday.

But now reports have turned their attentions to Charlton Athletic hitman McLeod, who has fallen down the pecking order at The Valley and has been told he can look for a loan move to gain some regular first team football.

The former Derby man has struggled to make an impact with Athletic since making his big-money move back to the Championship from League Two club MK Dons and is said to be the new number-one target for Laws.

It's no surprise that the links have come hot-on-the-heels of Wednesday being linked with a multi-million pound takeover this week, and any loan moves could well depend on a takeover, although reports are saying a new striker could well be in place ahead of this weekend's trip to Barnsley.

With Sodje and Jeffers likely to miss the rest of the season, Laws, and the Wednesday faithful, will be keen to get the right man for the job as they look to avoid relegation to League One.

i think craig beatie wud be the best bet if he wants another striker or he cud just send showomni back and get mcleod instead virtualy same player
boothe
Yep Craig Beattie would be the best one on all those who have being mentioned!!
will it ever happen
Theres no chance of Craig Beattie coming radio sheffield said, And I feel Showunmi needs to sign permanant. Looking forward to Sodje and Showunmi upfront next season. Hopefully in the championship.
Bigash
mcleod not proven at this level so not for me
mick66owl
yea but neither is showumni or sahar
smiggyswfc
neither was sodje
FUTURES BLUE N WHITE
all this speculation is doing my nut in!!
dbblue
Not overly excited by Macleod. Showunmi has still got something to prove if you ask me. Wouldn't want to see him and Sodje up front together, way too similar.
Disgruntled Owl
Powerfull tho Disgruntled Owl, Be similar to the old watford bully tactics of Henderson and King.
Bigash
and just look at sodje at 1st how bad he was for 1st month. when you get 1month loan signings you need proven players not untried ones. hence why we are were we are
mick66owl
wow just caught up with some of the takeover talk and apparently they have said they will invest 250million into the club over the next five years which sounds good to me!
Holl

bladesforlife1889
BFL, haven't you got your own message board to post on? You clearly have too much time on your hands you ignorant *****wit. I've been down the pub with a good mate tonight who happens to be a blade. We have an agreement where we don't discuss our clubs due to the ridiculous ignorance of fans such as you. Grow up and ***** off
S6Apple
S6Apple - just for the record why dont you take a look at the sufc-vital and see how many of you piggy f***ers are abusing us for no reason and coming on our site before you start spouting off you soft lad!!
bladesforlife1889

bladesforlife1889
no pleasing some of you is there bfl try to smile and it brings the worsed out of some people
mick66owl
forget strikers laws says on radio sheffield a striker isnt his priorty its a right fullback but he refuses to rule out a striker move
mick66owl
How about when the takeover does happen, we give old Steve Maclean , Chris Brunt, Glenn Whelan, Madjid Bougghera and Yoann Folly all a ring. Say sorry lads, we've sorted our selves out now fancy coming back? 70K a week should tempt em, lol
Bigash
i would take brunt and whelan but the rest not a chance
mick66owl
id take brunty n folly back anyday... imagine sodje n jeffers on the end of bruntys crosses.... plus the fact we havent really scored a blindin goal this season cus brunt got most of them!! best is probably jj away @ stoke!!
FUTURES BLUE N WHITE
would you really want brunt a whelan back they've already shown they would have no real commitment to the club, if they didnt want to be here when we didnt have money why should we take em back when we have. theres better players out there anyway, gerrard and ronaldo would be a good start
Barton6435
whys he never try out rocky lekaj while jjs out mite be nieve but bet he gives hundred percent or he just too ****
boothe
working in brum at the moment with many baggies fans who think craig beattie would do a good job for us, good times ahead if we get takenover and stay up.
Gilley21
We always do things the hard way. . . . .Im preying we stay up, buts its so difficult to see how we can. We've got to beat barnsley and show were still the big dogs in yorkshire.
Bigash
Whelan never really asked to go. I would have Brunt back in a flash but Bougherra ??? Not a chance, no-one remember his "I wont play for the club again if I'm not allowed move" fiasco ??
McQuaid-Owls
another striker being linked now anthony stokes from sunderland
mick66owl
getting fed up na rather there coming or not these people need to stop aking ***** up cos they *****e at researchin
boothe
I thinks Bougherra was forced out, left out in cold as charlton met the asking fee. Please Showumni, eNoch one in for the blue and white army againts the dingles and we'l let you stay another month, how great is that.
Bigash
bougherra can go swivel, we loved him n he buggered off as soon as he could,
