Strikers, Strikers, Everywhere!

Strikers, Strikers, Everywhere!

Is Brian Laws the next Neil Warnock? From going to having almost no fit strikers for selection, the Owls seem to be linked with every striker under the sun - Izale McLeod being the latest.

Wednesday have already bolstered their attacking options with the loan additions of Enoch Showunmi and Ben Sahar from Bristol City and Chelsea respectively, following injuries to Francis Jeffers, Akpo Sodje and Leon Clarke.

But Laws may not stop there, with West Brom's out-of-favour marksman Craig Beattie being told he can leave West Brom on loan, with Wednesday set to sign the Scotsman according to media reports yesterday.

But now reports have turned their attentions to Charlton Athletic hitman McLeod, who has fallen down the pecking order at The Valley and has been told he can look for a loan move to gain some regular first team football.

The former Derby man has struggled to make an impact with Athletic since making his big-money move back to the Championship from League Two club MK Dons and is said to be the new number-one target for Laws.

It's no surprise that the links have come hot-on-the-heels of Wednesday being linked with a multi-million pound takeover this week, and any loan moves could well depend on a takeover, although reports are saying a new striker could well be in place ahead of this weekend's trip to Barnsley.

With Sodje and Jeffers likely to miss the rest of the season, Laws, and the Wednesday faithful, will be keen to get the right man for the job as they look to avoid relegation to League One.

Theres no chance of Craig Beattie coming radio sheffield said, And I feel Showunmi needs to sign permanant. Looking forward to Sodje and Showunmi upfront next season. Hopefully in the championship.

Not overly excited by Macleod. Showunmi has still got something to prove if you ask me. Wouldn't want to see him and Sodje up front together, way too similar.

and just look at sodje at 1st how bad he was for 1st month. when you get 1month loan signings you need proven players not untried ones. hence why we are were we are
