Owls boss Brian Laws insisted that the stalemate with South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley at on Saturday was very much a point gained rather than two points lost.
Wednesday fans may well have thought the Tykes were there for the taking in a lacklustre bore draw at Oakwell, and they could well have taken all three points when Burton O'Brien launched a powerful long-range effort which came crashing off the post in the dying seconds.
But Laws insisted that the point could well be a 'turning point' for the Owls as they look to battle their way out of the Championship's bottom three before the end of the season.
Laws told SWFC.co.uk: 'That was a very good point, make no mistake about that. We stuck to our task and made it very difficult for Barnsley to play, particularly Brian Howard.
'We know that Howard can control a game if you give him the chance but we stifled him well, I thought Adam Bolder did a great job in midfield.'
And Barnsley boss Simon Davey was left pointing towards the bad wind conditions in South Yorkshire for the 'battle' that took place in a scrappy derby clash.
Davey told barnsleyfc.co.uk: 'We have had to contend with the wind in the last two matches and that has been a major factor again today. You could not get a passing game going and the ball just got caught in the wind. Those were the conditions again today and it was not a classic local derby.
'At the end of the day we have picked up a point and that is one nearer where we want to be.
'I thought we had the better of the first half hour and could have probably been in front at half time but the conditions were very difficult.
'The game just drifted away from both teams and I felt that the best players on the park were the two goalkeepers and four central defenders. That says a lot really.'
