Beevers Makes His Mark

Congratulations are in order for Wednesday central defender Mark Beevers, after he scooped the Wickes Apprentice of the Year gong on Sunday night.

The 18 year old beat five other Championship youngsters to the coveted award: recognition of his progress through the ranks at Hillsborough, and his selection for the England under 19 squad this year. Recent first team performances alongside Richard Wood at the heart of the Owls defence show immense promise. The future is bright!

At the Football League Awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Park Lane, Mark also picked up a cool five grand for the Owls Academy and a stack of travel vouchers for himself.

Good work, fella!

(The Football League Awards show will be aired on Sky Sports 1 on Thursday 6th March at 8pm)

Let's hope he doesn't see somewhere he fancies more than Sheffield when he's using up his travel vouchers! He's one we need to keep - him + Woody = 3 clean sheets!

It seems to go quiet then alot of news at once over the takeover. I know BBC Radio Sheffield have a contact number for Geoff Sheard, So its best listening to the football heaven show for the latest.
Bigash
at the moment there's a lot of pressure involved at hillsborough for people to perform well, if lekaj has a stinker it would ruin his confidence, we need to reach safety before we take such a gamble

I agree, well done to beevers though nice to see some of our homegrown lads coming through the ranks lekaj sounds like the next one to come through, so much better havin lads there that care about the club and want to give 100% every game rather than the idiots that put us in the situation we are in now, just hope beevers keeps his head now and kicks phillips and miller off the park tomorrow night!

Liam McMenemin won't be far behind Lekaj i don't think. Fair play to Beevers, thoroughly deserved. He's done incredible so far for his age.
