Owls Could Host Olympic Teams

Wednesday's Middlewood Road training base could be host to sporting stars from around the world after being named as a potential training venue ahead of the London 2012 Olympics.

Over 600 venues across the country have been shortlisted to host Olympic hopefuls ahead of the games, with Middlewood Road potentially hosting archery and fencing hopefuls as well as providing training for football teams taking part in the Olympics.

Middlewood Road is one of a number around South Yorkshire selected, with Sheffield United's Academy, Doncatser Dome, Don Valley Stadium, Ponds Forge International Sports Centre and iceSheffield also making the shortlist - giving the Steel City a great chance to host some of the best sports men and women from around the globe.

The training camp guide, which includes all potential venues and offers a £25,000 award for teams coming over to the UK to train ahead of the games, will be sent by London to all national Olympic and Paralympic committees later this year.

And each country will then decide where to base its athletes for London 2012.

London 2012 chairman Lord Coe said: 'It's a great opportunity for towns throughout the UK to get involved in our plans.'

I believe swfc board are in talks over a takeover. If you wanted to buy a persons car, you would talk to the owner and not the passengers. If they get the boards control all will follow suit.
