Fox In The Reserves

Fox in the box Francis Jeffers made a scoring return to action as the Owls reserves came out on top, 2-0, against York City reserves last night.

Former Everton and Arsenal man Jeffers has endured a torris time with injury throughout his career, which has continued since making the move to Hillsborough.

But the scouser will be hoping his 20th minute strike, which opened the scoring against the Minstermen's second string, will signal a fresh start for the former England international as he looks to return to full fitness and repay Owls boss Brian Laws for his faith in the hitman.

Jeffers, who made the switch to S6 from Blackburn Rovers in the summer, has seen his start in the blue and white of Wednesday scuppered due to injury but will be hoping to make a steady recovery to feature before the end of the season.

Ronnie Wallwork bagged the second in the comfortable victory, while Owls fans will also be pleased to learn that Frank Simek and Steve Watson also played their part in their comeback from injury.

The article above doesnt state Franny had to come off in the 35th minute with his ankle feeling uncomfortable. Its a shame, but true.

Megs. How about another campaign.....get Franny some new ankles? It's a shame, cos he's a cracking player

Will he make the first team before getting injured again?
swfcjambo
I bloody hope so. He can be a super sub for me

What Bigash said...35 mins, bit disappointing, goal or not.
McQuaid-Owls

glass ankle jeffers needs to take his time and be sure that he doesn't aggravate the injury, if it takes another three months it will be worth the wait cos he is prem quality,
dbblue
CARNT SEE PLAYING HIM 20 games a season. shame bcos he will score goals at this level. allen should never have sanctioned the move knowing he was injury prone. especially after taking stances on mcgovern and mclean
mick66owl
Alot of eggs went into the same basket with jeffers. Lets not forget tho guys, the thug like tackle from behind that messed up jeffers and our season came from stokes ryan shawcross, the W@NKER.
Bigash
still think that at the mo he is our best bet for the future in the striker dept. he's proven and has a brain.
dbblue
You guys noticed Mcleod went to colchester.....got injured. Craig Beattie went to Preston.....got injured. Oh and Leon Best is on 9 yellows, so if he picks up one more on satday, he'l get a 2match ban.
Bigash
Save him for next season, it's obvious he's not ready. Don't need to rush him back!
will it ever happen
Apparently he needs to see a specialist again... like i said a few weeks back, this guy wont play for us again this season
johnnywalker69
