Owls Takeover Deal Still On

Owls Takeover Deal Still On

Owls fans fearing a collapse of a takeover of the club can put their fears to bed after Geoff Sheard and his consortium revealed that the deal was still very much on track.

Sheard revealed his interest in Wednesday weeks ago but Owls fans grew frustrated at the lack of action in recent weeks.

But Sheard has revealed to Wednesdayite chairman Darryl Keys that the deal is still on track and that it could be done and dusted as early as in the next few weeks, or before the end of the season at the latest.

Keys told the Sheffield Star: 'I have been reassured that things are going to plan. The lawyers are on to it, the accountants are on to it.'

He added: 'I can understand everybody's frustration - I'm sure the club are frustrated as well. We feel the same way, and I am sure Geoff Sheard does, but these things can be very complex.'

Sheard revealed that the deal was taking longer than expected because of the complexity of the situation but is still confident that it can be completed sooner rather than later.

And Keys also revealed to the Star that another party were still showing interest in investing in the club and were keeping a keen eye on Sheard's consortium.

Oh and West Brom have taken Luke Steele back from Barnsley - Didnt they also do that with Steve Watson last season - when we had a good run.

West Brom are good at doing that. I think this is down to money this time though. They know how much Barnsley want him and they want his wages paid in full. Barnsley can't afford him. With us, I think they wanted to ruin our run, but this one seems to go back to money again. Goos news on the takeover. This last few weeks of silence has reminded me not to get too excited too quickly. Sheard sounds pretty determined to get us though.
