Frankie Heading For Wembley?

Wednesday right-back Frank Simek could be heading to Wembley this May - not in a cup final, but with the US National squad for their friendly clash against England.

The USA have announced they will face Fabio Capello's England at the prestigious venue to help both teams prepare for their 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign - with Simek a possible inclusion in Bob Bradley's squad.

The former Arsenal youngster has already been included in numerous US squad matches but has been out injured for the Owls in recent months, although a return is on the cards after playing in recent reserve matches.

And Simek could well be hoping that his return comes at just the right time with USA will now travelling to Europe for three friendlies with dates scheduled with Poland on 26 March and Spain on 4 June.

'Our goals is to play against good opponents in environments that really challenge our team,' US head coach Bob Bradley told the USA website.

'The quality of the English team makes this a fantastic opportunity for us.'

This is great news for our (the US) team! We can sure use the practice! Give us another 15 to 20 years and we should have a good side. I really hope Frankie gets this chance! It's well deserved!!! Plus, our national team needs to draw on players that play in clubs in Europe/UK. From the MLS matches that I've seen, it just doesn't seem like they get the greatest training over there.

BTW, does anyone know how soon Frank might be first-team match fit?
YankeeOwl
He has played in a few reserve matches so I'd say 2/3 weeks away?

That's a relief (although sooner would be better!). I h8 to see such talent sidelined for so long!
YankeeOwl
good player! we've missed him.

Wouldn't be surprised to find him on the bench for Saturday. He's played two 90 minute reserve games now. Would imagine he'll be used as a sub for a while, but should be involved pretty soon.
Disgruntled Owl
the sooner he's back in squad the better. i'd be tempted to start him if i were laws

Hope he scores a hat-trick for them!
will it ever happen
It would be great to see him on the bench at least! Good to see him pulling the numbers at the half-time draw, but that's not really using his gifts it it? Still, don't want to rush him I guess... Glad to hear about the two 90min slots!

his energy is sorely missed, hurry up Frankie
