Laws Confirms Showunmi Exit

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has confirmed that striker Enoch Showunmi will not have his loan stay extended at S6 and will return to Bristol City next week.

Laws was leaving his decision over Showunmi until after the clash with Stoke City today, but revealed to BBC Radio Sheffield immediately after the match that the lanky striker will be returning to Championship leaders Bristol City.

The striker came on as a second-half substitute in the 1-1 draw with Tony Pulis' men, and was on the pitch when the Owls levelled late on, but had little impact on the clash.

He spent two months at Wednesday, playing in seven games but failing to score a goal since his arrival.

But he fell down the pecking order following the arrival of Ben Sahar on loan from Chelsea and the improved form of Deon Burton, while Thursday's arrival of Bartosz Slusarski from West Brom on loan put the final nail in his coffin for his stay at Hillsborough.

Although he wasnt very good towards the end of his loan, I enjoyed his commitment and effort showed againts WBA and Charlton. The lad needed a goal, and thats the end of it really, Akpo Sodje went a while before he got his goal, he flourished when he did. I see Enoch been a great battering ram for some team, unfortunatly not for us tho. Good luck Enoch.
