Owls Break Loan Rules

Wednesday could be set for a punishment from the Football League after breaking rules in the 1-1 clash with Stoke City by fielding too many loan players.

The Owls included six loan players in their squad for the home clash with the Potters, but are only allowed to include five under league rules.

And they could be set for punishment as big as a points deduction for breaking the rules, although a cash fine is the more likely outcome.

Promotion-hopefuls Stoke have demanded an investigation in light of Franck Songo'o's, one of the loan players in question, leveller in the second half to give Wednesday a much-needed point in the battle against the drop.

Ben Sahar (Chelsea) and Graham Kavanagh (Sunderland) also started the clash while Enoch Showunmi (Bristol City), Adam Bolder (QPR) and new-boy Bartosz Slusarski (West Brom) were also included on the Owls' bench.

bugger...knowing the current situation...they'd probably take a point deduction over a fine!
aball2112
hope they don't deduct you lot points - it's not nice, believe me

wendy are fine, they didnt break the rules as the players mentioned were brought into the club as emergency loan deals not just normal loan deals. come on do you think wendy would honnestly not know the crack here with so much at stake.
bladesforlife1889
for once i will agree with bladesforlife, theres no way we would make that mistake, but if that is the case someone needs stringing up
mansfieldowl
I am sure King Brian knew what he was doing.

Ha ha!! No comment... ;)

Scummy Leeds were charged with exactly the same offence and received a £1000 fine. So we should get a £500 fine ,thats how the league usually works if you listen to mardy Leeds scum

can this season get any worse?
swfcjambo
Don't ask jambo! Tudgay's news???

I think we'll just get away with a fine and a slap on the wrists, as all 6 loan players didnt actually play. If they all played some part in the match and therefore influenced the game, we'd probably be looking at a points deduction, or would be forced to replay the match
johnnywalker69
How many reasons did Brian need to not have included Enoch int he squad. Waste of space, glad he's gone!
SuperOwls
That goal could cost Stoke promotion (and £60million plus). A point deduction or a replay is the only fair outcome!
jonnyblade
I hope it doesn't come to this, but I'd be up for a replay over a point deduction. We weren't on our best form Saturday. We could surely beat them on another day.
YankeeOwl
jonnyblade it didnt cost Stoke anything, as we didnt play all 6 loan players, only 4 played, 2 stayed on the bench, so we didnt gain an unfair advantage
johnnywalker69
The punishment will mirror similar offences by other clubs, (if it has indeed happened before) anything less or harsher would be unfair..!
horseworrier
We obviously need a Loan Arranger because this is completely Tonto!
Auckland Owl
This is bloody typical. I'm a huge fan of Lawsy but he should've known a rule like that. Let's hope they don't come down on us like a ton of bricks, we've got enough of a job on our hands as it is.
GameBurton07
A quick slap on the wrists and that will be it, nothing more!
will it ever happen
Needs to go back to school and learn to count 1,2,3,4,eerrrrrrr 1,2,3,4 EEErrrrr
