Blades' 'Payback Tuesday'

Blades' 'Payback Tuesday'

The Bramall Lane tannoy announcer dubbed last night's Steel City derby 'Payback Tuesday' - some payback that was eh?

Of course, he was referring to the Owls' comfortable 2-0 victory over their red and white rivals back in January, but a double strike from Adam Bolder thwarted any such 'payback' during an exciting Sheffield derby.

The Vital Sheffield Wednesday, and Vital Sheffield United comments pages and forums were full of Blades fans predicting a 'thrashing for the Owls ahead of the match, Blades fans who've been pretty quiet this morning.

PomegranateTree said: '3-0 to the mighty Blades tonight. We're gonna help send the S6 filth down. Prepare to be utterly slaughtered and humiliated at the Lane tonight, my little blue and white piggy friends. Can't wait for the revenge. Bring it on!!!'

sharpblades said: '2-0 Blades. Beattie to score both goals and send the porkers back to the sty and league one football next season. Come on you red and white wizards.'

jonnyblade said: 'Stop crying about injuries and making excuses for the impending battering you're gonna get. The simple fact is, there's not a single wednesday player that'd make it into the united team.'

bladesforlife1889 said: 2-0 blades beattie and sharpy. easy!!!

I must have missed us being 'utterly slaughtered and humiliated at the Lane' last night, or the 'impending battering' we got, surely I must have been at a different match?

Still, don't forget the Blades have that 'one over' on us not doing the double over them. Forget humiliating them at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-finals, forget the Boxing Day Massacre.

'Sending Wednesday down' was the match preview on the Vital Sheffield United website - well, lads, that's a point that takes us a place higher in the pecking order, a point further away from the bottom three, and makes that four points from six off your lot this season, four points that could well help us survive this season. You were going to hammer us afterall, so surely that's four points gained rather than two dropped, right?

You'll never beat the Wednesday....

There's every chance of winning each of the last 4 games of the season, Plymouth and Norwich at home are certainly winnable as are Blackpool and Leicester away. Realistically 2 wins and 2 draws is more likely though (hopefully)! Our run in appears to be less difficult than some of the teams around us, Barnsley winning at Watford tonight wasn't ideal, will be glued to gillette soccer saturday hoping they all loose this week before we beat Plymouth monday night!!!
