Owls Injury Problems Continue

Owls boss Paul Sturrock may only have eleven senior players to choose from ahead of the weekend trip south to Southampton.

Richard Wood will be out of action for 2-3 weeks after suffering a slight groin tear, and Peter Gilbert may also miss the trip with a swollen knee.

Sturrock told the official SWFC site: ''I hate discussing injuries. But in all my years as a player, coach and manager I have never seen anything like this.''

Southampton players Leon Best and Yoann Folly will be ineligable to play at the weekend as part of their loan arrangements with the club.

Sturrock is also sweating on the fitness of striker Deon Burton and left-back John Hills, who will both undergo late fitness tests. Striker Barry Corr is also having treatment on a back injury and may return.

But Jon-Paul McGovern and Steve Adams are not likely to return in the near future. McGovern's thigh injury is to be scanned again in a fortnight, while Adams may miss the rest of the season.
