'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Tommy Gun!

Wednesday left-back Tommy Spurr bagged his second ever goal in the famous blue and white stripes last night, and what a way to grab the Owls a vital point!

Tommy's 81st minute leveller against Paul Sturrock's men could well prove to be the best goal at Hillsborough this season, both from a 'goal of the season' point of view, and in terms of helping the Owls to survival in the Championship this season.

And Owls boss Brian Laws revealed to SWFC.co.uk that the Wednesday youngster was left 'beaming' in the dressing room following the clash with the Pilgrims.

'If there was one player who was going to put the ball into the back of the net I would pick Tommy Spurr because he is absolutely Sheffield Wednesday through and through. It could not have happened to a nicer guy,' he said.

'He is beaming in the dressing room because it was a quality strike but I think if I asked him to do that a hundred times 99 of them would probably hit me in the dugout.

'Moments like that in games can change a season and I hope that's one of those that will kick us on because every one of those players out there tonight has given everything.'

We put it all down to the Vital Sheffield Wednesday sponsorship of his home shirt - nice one, Tommy!

Could that be the goal that keeps us in this league? Really should have won the game with all the posestion we had, just missing the killer touch in-front of goal, AGAIN!!
will it ever happen
Well done Tommy!! what a screamer!

It was nothing to do with affording them, the delivery company made the mistake. Well dont Tommy is right, quality strike !

Haha you're really clutching at straws now sharp!! The printers let us down, simple as that. In fact you should have known that already as you were obviously at the match to know such a level of detail on what happened last night and would have heard the announcement over the tannoy. Are you an Owl in disguise??? Or do you just wish you were???
SuperOwls
My player of the season by a country mile. The ever consistent and reliable Tommy Spurr. Well done.
Bigash
Hmmmm Bigash - one strike and you're getting all over excited! I've said it before and I'll say it again - his first job is being a defender and his 1 on 1 defending is pretty poor! Beevers all the way for me!
SuperOwls
He has improved defensively over the cvourse of the season though. Think we might see a more complete Spurr next season
welshyowl
Printers let you down my @rse, another excuse by you lot. I see you don't like the truth on your site so you delete my posts. You can give it but can't take it. Poor attitude and scummy club.
sharpblades
LOL. What's with the inferiority complex sharpblades. Finally realised you'll always be Wednesday's poorer relation? Seriously, get a life and go post your rubbish on your own site. It's getting boring
SouthamptonOwl
Come on Sharp, think about it. Do you really think we could make a cutting announcment like that over the tannoy about the printing company and get away with it if it wasn't the truth? If you're still waffling on about "another excuse", etc, etc then take a look at the papers over the next few weeks and if you don't see an article about Owls being sued by printers then I guess you'll be coming on here with an apology....nah didn't think you would be big enough for that
SuperOwls
I think you are going down. One point will not keep you up. Especially now you are bottom 3.
