Nice One Brunty!

Wednesday may have their Championship fate back in their own hands following their weekend victory, but a late goal from former Owl Chris Brunt may have just given the Owls a boost.

Wednesday leapfrogged both Leicester City and Southampton following the weekend defeat of the Foxes at the Walkers Stadium, but could have slumped behind the Saints had they picked up a shock victory against promotion-hopefuls West Brom last night.

And they almost did, until former Owl Chris Brunt came off the bench for the Baggies to level late on and all-but seal West Brom's promotion to the Premiership, and leave the Saints needing a win against Sheffield United on Sunday to stand any chance of survival.

Saints boss Nigel Pearson told BBC Sport: 'We are disappointed not to have won after going in front but the point gives us more of a fighting chance than if we had lost.

'It drags other teams back into the equation and applies pressure on them. If we perform like that on Sunday we have a great chance of winning our last game and hopefully staying up.'

The result means Southampton now have to win on the final day against Sheffield United to stand any chance of staying up, with Wednesday also failing to win, with the Owls' goal difference 14 better than that of Pearson's charges.

johnnywalker69
Brilliant Job Brunt!!! Have a great career in the Premiership lad... you really deserve it!!!
YankeeOwl
Let's give Bullen an appropriate send off on Sunday!
SuperOwls
il give bullen his appropriate send off...... f*** off and dont come back!!!
FUTURES BLUE N WHITE
knew you were a fruity pig johnny, lol
bladesforlife1889
Thats a bit harsh on Bullen, I agree that this season has been one too many for him, but you can't argue that he's been a great servant to the club.
BedfordOwl
he will get a great send off, a true servant to the club, he loves the club and the fans and he deserves a good send off
BIG TONY
Thanks for the goal and the half million extra we receive for your transfer.
Smurf
Yeah come on Futures, a little harsh maybe?? No-one would deny this season he's been a liability but looking back to past seasons he was solid as you like int he heart of defence and gave everything for the cause and an Owl through and through.
SuperOwls
sorry but he's never been good!! how many goals has he cost us???? loyalty is no replacement for ability!!
FUTURES BLUE N WHITE
I accept he's been at fault for a fair few goals this season but he was an inspirational captain if you cast your mind back 2/3 years. He should have packed it in on a high the season before last but I think he deserves a good send off on Sunday
SuperOwls
not just this season he did it in league one too!!! anyone remeber the last minute winner he gifted bradford?? no-one will ever convince me he's good! anyone notice wen he got injured we were unbeaten then as soon as he comes back (at blackpool) we lose!! coincidence quite possibly but fact all the same!! il give the guy a nice send off just as long as he GOES!!!
FUTURES BLUE N WHITE
Ooh you're hard to please Futures! I'm sure if we looked at most defenders we would be able to think of times they've cost us - I would say Tommy has let us down on many occasions this season and no-one is still going on about JJ's cock up (granted he's not a defender but neither is Bullen a full back). I'm not sayin he's a great player and agree he should have quit 2 seasons ago but he's been a great servant to the club and I think we should show our appreciation on Sunday
SuperOwls
ok ok ill clap him but as soon as his back is turned im gonna rod him too!!! i agree on tommy but he is young n gettin better!!
FUTURES BLUE N WHITE
Haha! I'll look out for you Futures! You'll be the one in the blue and white shirt, right?? I'll be in my lucky orange wig from last Saturday! Up the Owls!
SuperOwls
Wonder if Brunty had us in his mind when he scored that goal?
will it ever happen
Of course he did. He was wearing his Ozzie Owl T-Shirt under his WBA top :)
