Gnakpa Opens Owls Rumours

The season is only a matter of days old, but the pre-season transfer speculation has already started, with Peterborough United defender Claude Gnakpa linked with a move to S6.

Brian Laws will be tinkering with his squad over the summer, whether a takeover goes ahead or not, and it looks like he could have already started making his shortlist ahead of going on his well-deserved summer holiday.

Posh defender Gnakpa has been linked with a number of clubs following his impressive performances which have helped United to promotion from League Two this season.

SPL side Aberdeen and Luton Town have already shown their interest in the 24-year-old defender, while the Owls have also been mentioned in media reports from Peterborough for the Frenchman.

Gnakpa made his name with Racing de Santander, where he made 35 appearances and scored twice in the process, and also had an unsuccessful trial with Swindon Town while Paul Sturrock was at the helm, before going on to become a first team regular at London Road last season.

He could well be seen as another 'rough diamond' by the Owls boss, who has an impressive record in signing relatively unknown players and turning them in impressive players, most notably with Billy Sharp and Andy Keigh whilst at Scunthorpe, and more recently Akpo Sodje at S6.

But it could well be nothing more than speculation - we promise not to bore you with the hoards of players being linked with Wednesday over the summer - which I'm sure will be vast this pre-season!

Feel free to bore me with the information. It'd be nice to get the impression that we've got enough money to buy someone.

Can't be right, Laws only buys wingers and strikers, everyone knows that. Be good to get some backup a the back though!

Suppose we've more chance of signing him than Kluivert.

Whilst we need support at the back, our defensive unit is pretty good, central midfield and overwhelmingly one or two goal scorers please (Freddy Eastwood would do, if we had any money).
