Latics Confirm Wednesday Friendly

We've already announced that Wednesday will be touring Holland again this pre-season, and now we can announce the Owls will be playing Wigan Athletic in a pre-season friendly.

The Owls have an annual end-of-pre-season friendly match against Premiership opposition to get them in the mood for the start of the season, and this time it's the turn of Steve Bruce's Latics to take on Wednesday at Hillsborough on Saturday, August 2.

It may not be an 'attractive' Premier League side that many Owls fans will have wished for, but it's sure to give Brian Laws and his troops the test they require before the start of the new Championship season.

And Wednesday are also expected to take on Sheffield FC on Wednesday, July 30, just days before the clash with the Latics, with an understrength side expected to give the UniBond Premier League club a test at The Coach & Horses Ground.

We'll keep you updated with all the Owls' pre-season fixtures right here on Vital Sheffield Wednesday.

Probable the best we could get. Utd and Arsenal were hardly rushing to play us.

More fans at the Sheff FC ground than at the wigan game im guessing. Coach and Horses is down road from me so ill be there.

It's a good test for the team but it would be good for you if you could get a big team for the revenue/ticket sales.

s6 apple I sure hope it isn't like last pre season, 3-0 defeats to now league 2 side port vale were never going to be the signs for a promising season!!!

I'll be in Holland for the Feyenoord tournament, including Spurs, Celtic and Borussia Dortmund. I know where I'd rather be, De Kuip!
