Owls Fans Doubtful Over Takeover

The latest poll on Vital Sheffield Wednesday asked how optimistic fans were that a takeover of the club would happen - and the results are in.

A takeover has been on the lips of all involved with the club, for what seems like forever, but interest seemed to hot up in Wednesday towards the end of last season, with Geoff Sheard and his consortium linked with the Owls, while Jon Sotnick also showed an interest.

But the last few weeks have seen little clues as to whether a much-needed takeover will go ahead this summer, or ever, and it seems to be rubbing off on the majority of Vital Sheffield Wednesday users who seem to have given up hope on the impending deal.

61 per cent of users are so disillusioned that the believe a takeover will never happen, while two per cent believe there will be no movement until next season, which could well be too late for Wednesday to have a much more productive season on the pitch in 2008-09.

But there's still hope amongst fans, with 23 per cent believing that a deal could well be done and dusted this close season - whether it's done and dusted in time for boss Brian Laws to bolste his squad sufficiently before the start of the season is yet to be seen.

And there are still the 10 per cent of optimistic, 'glass half full' users who believes something could well be struck within the next few weeks to give the club a much-needed boost, while four per cent believe there could be movement in the next month.

Who knows? Lets hope the 61 per cent are proven wrong this pre-season - here's hoping...

its a shame the season before last we were scoring the most goals in the championship with great attacking drive (scored more than all those promoted) yet this season since we've got one of the best defences in the division but lost our attacking mentality and a few key players. would have been an automatic promotion target if we hadnt sold brunt, maclean and whelan. and bougherra. shows how much money can affect/ruin championship football .

My view is its not going to happen - and the club are just stress it to keep people interested and not annoyed with them. There trying to make it look like there looking to help our club move forward but really there just having orgys with Dave Allen and his men.
