Owls Scrap Photo ID Scheme

Wednesday have announced that they've scrapped the controversial photo identification scheme for adult season tickets for the forthcoming campaign.

Many fans had been left aggrieved at having to fork out extra cash to pay for photographs as ID on their season tickets - a scheme which was introduced at the start of last season - and the club have acted to scrap the scheme.

A statement on SWFC.co.uk read: 'The club have worked very closely with the local authorities and the Safety Advisory Group and we are pleased to announce that, from Saturday, May 24, adult season ticket applications will no longer require accompanying photographs.

'Passport style photographs continue to be required for concessionary rate season tickets, as has been the case for several years at Hillsborough.'

Fans who've already snapped up season tickets and supplied photo ID will be given a free ticket for the Owls' pre-season clash with Wigan Athletic at Hillsborough on Saturday, August 2.

And the club have also announced ticket prices for the clash, with adult season ticket holders paying just £5, while concessions pay just £1, and for non season ticket holders the price is £10 for adults and £5 concessions.

Finally a sensible deicison from the club. I got an article in the Star a year ago complaining about this and many others agreed with me. Looking at our average attendance I reckon it cost the club at least 3,000 season ticket holders. Finally I can APPLAUD a decision this board has made.
