Millers Move To...Sheffield!

Sheffield will have a third professional team playing in the steel city from next season after Rotherham United confirmed they'd be playing their home matches at Don Valley Stadium.

The Millers have been in financial difficulties for a while now and have resorted to moving from their Millmoor ground to play at Don Valley - a stadium usually used for athletics but with an attendance much larger than Millmoor.

New owner Tony Stewart told the official Millers site: 'This is a momentous step for us but I am determined that every deal that this club enters in to is workable and financially viable.

'I have no intention of seeing this club hit the financial rocks again and I am sure our supporters would expect nothing less'. Stewart went on

'We have done all we could to allow this club to stay at Millmoor but I am not going to wallow in this, we are going to make sure that we make our time at Don Valley as exciting as it can be and trust that our supporters will back us through this period as they always have.

'We will work doubly hard with the Rotherham Borough Council, and other interested parties to ensure that the new Community Stadium becomes a reality as soon as possible. In the meantime we will now press ahead with plans for the coming season which have been held up by the discussions over Millmoor.'

Will this have a knock on effect on our matchdays/kick off times? Surely South Yorkshire police wont allow 2 teams to play in Sheffield on the same day at the same time. How many 3pm saturday kick offs will Wednesday, United and Rotherham have this coming season??
johnnywalker69
i dont think rotherhams bumper crowds of 2500 will cause to much hassel mate!
