S/T Sales Not Too Cracking?

S/T Sales Not Too Cracking?

Wednesday have extended the deadline for season ticket renewals at discounted prices by an extra month, prompting Owls' fans to believe season ticket sales aren't going too well.

The Owls have already scrapped the I.D. photo scheme for adult season tickets following complaints by fans, but with no proof of a takeover being completed this pre-season, and a lack of signings by Owls boss Brian Laws, it seems season ticket sales at S6 could well be the lowest for years to date.

But in a statement on the official SWFC website, the club have indicated that sales are 'strong' so far.

The statement reads: 'While sales have been strong in the initial period of renewal, the club's board of directors recognise that current financial pressures across the UK are making it more difficult for people to save the money they need for a season ticket.

'The club have received a number of requests from existing season ticket holders to move the deadline for renewals back to the end of June. With this in mind, Sheffield Wednesday hope to ease the economic burden for fans by giving them extra time to buy their 2008/09 season ticket.'

So are the ticket sales really being affected because of 'current financial pressures across the UK', or have fans simply had enough?

Fans now have until Saturday, July 12, to renew their season ticket at the discounted prices, and guarantee their same seat for the 2008/09 campaign, while the deadline for 'early booking' has been moved from Saturday, June 28, to Saturday, July 26.

The club usually give updates as to the amount of season tickets sold, so it'll be interesting to see just how many Owls fans will be purchasing season tickets for the next campaign.

I think they have scraped "ignite the passion" and are trying to guilt-trip us with "where does you're heart lie" this year. I think the fact they havent released the number already speaks volumes, we clearly are thousands down on last year. :( UTO

It must be hard for fans to part with the cash when all they can expect is another struggle again next season.

I agree with mick66owl, can't see anyhting more than about 7,000. If i was Kaven Walker i would be *****ting myself, surely the CEO is the first to go when company revenue collapses in the space of a year.
