Owls Open With Clarets

Owls Open With Clarets

Wednesday will host Burnley on the opening day of the Championship season after the Championship fixtures were released this morning.

The Owls will be confident of getting off to a good start on home soil against the Clarets, and will be keen to avoid a repeat of last season's poor opening with a 4-1 loss at Ipswich Town.

But Brian Laws will face a difficult first away game of the season when he takes his troops to Wolves the following Saturday, before Preston are the visitors to S6 the week after.

Saturday, October 18 will be the first Sheffield derby of the season, with Hillsborough the venue, before another South Yorkshire derby quickly follows on the Tuesday after when Wednesday travel the short distance up the M1 to Barnsley.

Saturday, November 8, will see newly promoted Doncaster Rovers come to Hillsborough, while Wednesday will be on home soil against Blackpool for the Boxing Day fixture.

Saturday, February 7 will be the return date at Bramall Lane for the return leg of the Sheffield derby, while Wednesday finish the season at home to Cardiff City.

For the full Wednesday fixture list, see www.swfc.co.uk.

Who cares about Pigs? Wednesday in big trouble. Still no takeover, still no signings. We need O'Connor and Nicholson and we need them both to be good. Then we would need another winger and some back up in defence. Until then we're in the **** Squad for next season: Keepers - Grant and O'Donnell (think that's him, never seen him. Any good?) Defence - Simek, Spurr, Wood, Beevers, Hinds. Need to get rid of Gilbert and get new in Midfield - McAllister, JJ, Wade, Esajas, Watson. Get rid of Lenny. Bring in O'Connor, Nicholson and A.N Other Strikers - Jeffers, AKPO, Neon Deon and Tudders. Get rid of Leon + Academy kids. On the whole good, but potentially relegated if we have injuries from last year. And please no Kav.

that looks like i'm saying get rid off academy kids. we need them to supplement rather than make-up first team squad (i.e. Lekaj/Boden)
