Owls Continue Chelsea Links

Wednesday are lining up a loan move for highly-rated Chelsea youngster Jimmy Smith, according to BBC Radio Sheffield.

Owls boss Brian Laws has already been rumoured to be chasing fellow Chelsea hot prospect Jack Cork, and the Wednesday gaffer revealed that he was chasing two men on a season-long loan, with Smith now revealed as the second.

But Wednesday will only be getting one of the two, with Smith now emerging as the front-runner for a season-long stint at Hillsborough.

The 21-year-old has already had loan spells in the Championship with Queens Park Rangers and Norwich City, while Laws' former club Scunthorpe United are also interested in his services for next season.

Laws has identified the centre of midfield as a priority in shaping his squad for next season following the departure of Glenn Whelan last season and loan players Graham Kavanagh and Adam Bolder.

Like I said before...no offence but all us owls on here think you are just a irritating source of entertainment and were all just lauging at ya. So word of advice unless its usefull stay on ya own site for ya own reputations sake mate. All the best. UP THE OWLS

Assuming we get O'Connor and then one of these Chelsea loans - what next ? Another midfielder - or do we need a bit more cover at the back. Presume that up front there will be no change unless Leon moves on ?
DB2002
just heard we want horsfield on a free
FUTURES BLUE N WHITE
500k laws is willing to pay apparantely
bladesforlife1889
Cant be true, we aint got 500k!
johnnywalker69

benowl
true must admit quite surprised with the link. he has to be better than jeffers though surely. sonko has to be a player laws wants to sign on a permanent basis but no movement on that yet?
bladesforlife1889
Maybe that's because you just made it up, bfl.
Auckland Owl
do u mean songo'o bfl sonko is the defender @ readin
FUTURES BLUE N WHITE
horsfield does have a good record of goals, he may be getting on a bit but maybe thats what we need..... an experienced reliable frontman bit like windass is doing for Hull
Norman
I agree Norman Horsefield WAS a good player....but I carnt emphasise the word WAS strongly enough. With Sodje, Jeffers, Tudgay,Burton and possibly Clarke all fit can you honestly see Horsefield getting a look in. Really would sound like the odd one out. But thats just my opinion. UP THE OWLS !!!
stevetheowl
ha ha thats right futures blue and white. i ment songo. he was a handfull at the lane and looked threatening going forward. wonder if laws will be able to persuade him to come on a full time basis. it carnt be easy talking players to come in with the current stance of the club.
bladesforlife1889
Are my ears decieving me or is bladesforlife starting to talk a bit of sense !!! Trouble is with Songo'o is yeah he played well against Blades but he had more bad days than good, it was more a case of which Songo'o would turn up today. Ya other point about it being hard to persuade players to come, again I actually agree with. The current situation at Hillsborough is so unstable and delicate at mo prospective players are gonna be hard to negotiate with, but dont that just highlight more the fact of how gud a manager Laws is to be able to pull any sort a deal off in the current circumstances. Credit due to Laws I think for sricking with it even under speculation about his job being under threat if a takeover happens. UP THE OWLS !!!
stevetheowl
Yeah I realised that, talks nonsense on alot of sites. Im just pleased to have changed his tone slightly. As ya no Im used to working with adolescent delinquents I cud help him get over his troubles ya no, but he aint helping himself coming on these sites and making a fool of himself and of cousrse being a blade lol. UP THE OWLS !!!
stevetheowl
Come on guys, let's try to get along :)
johnnywalker69
my god we carnt even have a laugh without you guys getting ya knickers in a twist. was it really neccessary to remove those comments?? just carnt win wi u lot. lol
bladesforlife1889
Back to the football talk for a mo.... Don't you all think it would be nice if rather than reading about us being linked with all these players and takeover bids, we actually did try and do something about it all?!! The papers can talk but The Owls really need to do something and do something soon, otherwise we are gonna end up with players that have been released from their contracts from league 2 again!! We need to stregthen not just add more money to the wage bill! If the can stay fit our strikers will be a handful for any defence, our defenders are pretty solid and all still young so they can only get better, Grant is an excellent goalkeeper, its just the midfield as everyone knows that is our weak link! We lost Brunt and Whelan, our 2 main players in my eyes and replaced them with mediocraty last season. Jimmy Smith is meant to be useful but again i'll believe it when i see it. There aren'y many good midfielders available and if they are, would they come to us over the teams relegated from the prem and those who are always there or there abouts every season? Its gonna be a big ask of Laws. He's a good manager and i don't think it would matter who did the job, truth is theres no money! I'm sure if Laws was at Chelsea with millions to spend he could have got them to win things too! I look forward to next season i just hope we can prove that we are a big name club and really don't belong anywhere other than the Premiership! Up The Owls!
WestyOwl
well said westy, good read and very true!!
bladesforlife1889
The Star recons that the Takeover is likley to happen within the next 7-10 days, with Laws expected to carry on as manager.
