'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Woody Rumours 'News' To Laws

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has revealed that he knows nothing of the interest in defender Richard Wood from Championship rivals Coventry City.

The Sky Blues were supposed to be mounting a near 1 million bid for the Wakefield-born centre-half according to reports in the media in recent weeks.

Woody's top-class performance in the Owls' 0-0 stalemate with City at the Ricoh Arena is thought to have caught the eye of Sky Blues' boss Chris Coleman.

But, commenting on Woods' links with Coventry, Laws told the Sheffield Star: 'It's news to me.'

Wednesday will be keen to stick with the same defence that proved so successful last season, despite interest in Frank Simek and Mark Beevers.
