First Deal Done

Wednesday have completed their first signing of the season by agreeing a deal to bring former Burnley midfielder James O'Connor to Hillsborough on a three-year deal.

The Irishman is the first man through the door at S6 in terms of new players in the close season and will bolster Brian Laws' selection in the centre of midfield - a key area which Laws indicated needed strengthening.

'I am delighted to have secured the services of James O'Connor,' Laws told the official SWFC website.

'He is a proven player at Championship level and brings a wealth of experience to a key area of our team. James will bring an excellent work rate, great attitude, and numerous other qualities to our squad.'

O'Connor has vast experience in the Championship after his involvement with Stoke City and West Brom and enjoyed four years at Burnley.

could go very wrong, which if it does, at least you haven't blown a couple of million on him, but i think it might pay off & he'll be ok. Hardly the sort of player to set the world alight, but if he does the job, that's all that matters surely?
shepsblade
Dont no much about him but if hes 100% commited to cause and wears the Blue and white shirt with pride week in week out I wont be too unhappy. Burnley rated him very highly I know and well established Championship player, what more could ya want really. Time will tell I guess. Good luck to the lad. UP THE OWLS !!

Good signing, defensive midfielder that will run and tackle all day, If we get in a good attacking partner for him, we'll have a solid enough first 11. Exciting news from wednesdayite, still think its too good to be true though!

It's actually quite easy for sharpblades to recognise a poor player..... he's spent most of his life watching a whole team full of them!!

Got it in one USOWL !!!

He's a great signing. I was hopeing that O'Driscoll would have been able to take another one of his former Bournemouth boys to Donny.
