Wednesdayite Approached
Wednesdayite have revealed that they've had 'preliminary communication' from a party with regards to their ten per cent shareholding in the club.
With current takeover talk surrounding the Owls on-going, it's expected that front-runner Geoff Sheard and his consortium have approached the fans' group with regards to a possible purchase of the group's 10.07% shareholding at S6.
A statement on the Wednesdayite website read: 'Wednesdayite can confirm we have received a preliminary communication with regards to our 10.07% shareholding in Sheffield Wednesday PLC. We have referred this communication to our professional advisors and await the necessary advice.
'We are not at liberty to make any further comment at this time.'
Sheard and his consortium could well require the group's shareholding to be able to purchase a majority and takeover at S6 this pre-season.
Former Boston United chairman Jon Sotnick had also been in the running to takeover the Owls, but has since revealed he dropped his interest, leaving Sheard as the favourite to take the Hillsborough hot seat.
