Owls' Captains Revealed

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has revealed that Steve Watson will be the club captain for the forthcoming campaign, while Richard Wood has been given team captain responsibilities.

Watson comes with a wealth of experience not just at Championship level but also at a higher level in the Premiership with his spells at Newcastle United and Everton.

But the fact that the former West Brom man may not feature in every game in the blue and white next season has seen Laws offer the team captaincy to young defender Richard Wood.

Woody is now one of the more experienced players in the Owls defence, with fellow youngsters Tommy Spurr and Mark Beevers also part of the back four that performed so well last season.

And the offer of the captaincy to Wakefield-born Wood will give him even more reason to stay at S6 for next season in light of rumours linking him with a move elsewhere, with Coventry City reportedly interested.

He may have more experience yes but Wood did a good job last season and feel sorry for him. Why give it Watson when Wood will obviously play more games than him!
will it ever happen
WIEH Wood has got the captaincy, read again

excellent news a perfect combo

IMO it makes very good sense, club captain has extra responsibilities that would have weighed on Wood's shoulders, better than Wood only has to worry about going out on the pitch and being the captain.

I can't wait to stuff it down every blunt's throat once the takeover happens........they've always been poorer than us in quality & fanbase, soon they'll be the City paupers!!
