Sky Blues' Wood Bid Rejected

Wednesday have rejected a £1 million move for defender, and team captain, Richard Wood from Coventry City after weeks of speculation about the centre-back's future.

Sky Blues boss Chris Coleman was said to be interested in the Wakefield-born defender since he returned to England following a brief spell in Spain and has since made an offer for his services which has been instantly knocked back by the Owls.

Wood is now an integral part of Brian Laws' Wednesday squad for the forthcoming campaign having been handed the captain's armband ny the Owls boss following his impressive displays in the famous blue and white stripes last season.

And Laws is keen to keep his defence in tact, being one of very few bright spots for Wednesday fans last season.

Rumours of a move away from S6 have already surrounded Mark Beevers and Frank Simek, but rejecting the Sky Blues' offer for Wood, the Owls are showing that they won't be forced to sell their best players this season.

£1 million is nowhere near enough. Plus if he was going to leave surely it would be for someone better than Coventry.
BedfordOwl

mick66owl

ThatchamOwl
Slap two naughts on the end and they have a deal!!
will it ever happen
I would bite their hands off...injury prone and clumsy he's certainly no Kilgallon.
sharpblades
No he's better, sharppig.
BedfordOwl
No, your'e dead right there doubleblunt, he's far better than Kilgallon...........ha ha ha.
BOUNCIN OWL
Spot on Bouncin'.... I'm glad he's no Kilgallon or we'd really be in trouble. That's the problem with these blunts, can't tell the difference between the crap that they have in their side and a genuine class player like Woody!
US Owl
Isn't Kilgallon just a slightly stronger Bromby?... But still equally as poor? ... And a L**ds scum?

I'm sure coleman is keen as mustard to get wood but 1 mil, come off it, you're taking the**** with that offer! Wood and Beevers flanked by Spurr and Simek with Grant behind them, got to be the best, most promising defensive set up outside the prem! As for kilgallon, didn't he play at Hillsborough in the derby match back in January...nuff said!!

Exact valuations of any player are difficult but even the most conservative estimates should put at least a combined £10M valuation on our first choice back four of simek, wood, beevers and spurr add a talented and improving keeper in grant and we have the foundation of sucess this season .The two midfield signings are as good as could expected for nothing. The strike-force is average but with some potential (sodje ) . If the takeover materialises spending £7M or £8M on three quality players 2 midfield 1 striker, combined with new deals for the star defenders to ward off the vultures. I predict a top 6 battle with the blades.

Changed my mind Takeover to fail, star defenders to leave for less than their value , more loan deals than barclays ,relegation and administration. Cheers Mr Keys and your merry men, thanks a feckin lot! 10 pints of stella have got my name on them tonight

Patience greeny9, we've been waiting years for a takeover at the club, a few more weeks wont harm us!
