Wednesdayites Q & A - Number Four

Wednesdayites Q & A - Number Four

We travel across the pond (not literally!)to the good old US of A to talk to US Owl in our fourth question and answer session with Vital Sheffield Wednesday forum members...

--------------------------------------------

1. How did you get in to supporting Wednesday and what was your first match?

My Dad took me to my first match. I was so young I don't remember much, but I remember being in the {family enclosure?} and we were playing West Ham - I think we won!

2. What's your favourite ever Owls match?

Owls match I attended? Stupid as it may seem it was the year we went back up, with Hirsty playing. Home, against Barnsley. I was fairly close to the Leppings Lane end and could see the look of sheer delight as Hirsty scored...we won 3-1.

Favourite game ever watched? Gotta be the Rumbelows Cup Final.... what a God Sheridan is!

3. And your favourite ever player in the blue and white?

A tough call, but I reckon it has to be Kevin Pressman, so it's not strictly 'blue & white', but that man was the best we ever had at S6.

4. What about your best ever Owls XI during your time supporting Wednesday?

Alzheimer's is a wonderful thing!!!.....you get to make new friends every day.

Serious now:-
Pressman, Mel Sterland, Peter Swan, Nigel Worthington, Don Megson, Peter Eustace, John Sheridan, Carlton Palmer, Emerson Thome
John Fantham, David Hirst.

5. What's the best/funniest chant you've ever heard at a match?

Mrs. Hall's toffee rolls are the best,
mrs hall's toffee rolls are the greatest,
she gets strawberry milk form her breast,
and her husband does the rest!!

.....can't remember the name of the tune, but it was hilarious! Just always used to wonder just what the hell it had to do with football!!

6. If you could turn the clock back to a particular season which would it be and why?

It's gotta be the year we won the Rumbelows Cup, 1991...... that was the last time I ever had the chance to sit down with my Dad and watch a match.

7. And what about the 2008-09 season, how do you think we'll get on?

Regardless of what happens with club ownership, I think it'll be one extreme or the other....either way, I don't think we'll be in the championship season after next......now that's a bold statement!

8. The takeover is frustrating the life out of most of us - do you think it'll go ahead and are you excited, or worried?

It'll go ahead in the first week of July!!!!!????? Worried? Only about looking stupid if it doesn't happen next week!

9. If you could bring one player in the world to S6 who would it be and why, and if you could bring one Coca-Cola Championship player to S6 who would it be and why?

World Player? Bastian Schweinsteiger....watched him a fair bit recently and he would be perfect for our game here.

Championship player? Cameron Jerome.....

10. Other than Wednesday, do you look out for any other teams results, do you have a soft spot for any other team, and if so, why?

Cheating a bit here, but I follow the Carolina Panthers......American Football & my 'home' team.

11. Give us predictions this season, how will we do in the league and cup competitions?

In the league, I believe we will make the play-offs and win them to go up to the Prem.
Cups? League cup we'll go out in round 5 and FA Cup- I see a quarter final coming on for us!!

It all depends on our start again. Get a good start and who knows what we can achieve, bad start and it will be looking at the rear again!

The tune is, so my missus reliably informs me, "Stars & Stripes forever".
