Gilbert On Owls Holiday Relief & Takeover Talk!

Sheffield Wednesday`s Peter Gilbert talks about the impact the Owls staying up had on his summer and goes on to discuss the effect takeover talk at Hillsborough has had on the players.

"I must say, if we hadn`t have stayed up at the end of last season there's no way I would have enjoyed my holidays. I'm lucky enough never to have been relegated myself but I know it would have affected me and I would have spent the summer thinking about it.

"Like I say, we're back in training now. It's not been too tough so far but it's a question of building things up to make sure you're ready for the season when the time comes. We head off to Holland on Sunday for a week which should be good. We've got a few games lined up over there and then we head back to England to play a few more friendlies.

"The last couple of years we've played a Premier League side for our last friendly and this year we face Wigan. It's good preparation playing a team from the league above as it's a real test and the fans enjoy the spectacle. Then the season begins… I had a quick look at the fixtures when they came out over the summer. There are always certain ones you look out for - former clubs, teams where mates are playing and who you've got over Christmas."
