Jeffers Set For MK Return

Wednesday striker Francis Jeffers is set to make his long-awaited return to action in the Owls' friendly clash with MK Dons on Tuesday night.

Jeffers, who has seen his professional career blighted by numerous injuries, will be hoping his comeback is a successful one as he looks to make an impact in the Wednesday side this season.

'Jeffers is fully involved in training now and should play some part against MK Dons,' Brain Laws told BBC Radio Sheffield.

'We expect him to start pushing on, progressing and pressuring the other strikers at the club.'

The 27-year-old was sidelined with ankle ligament damage sustained in the Owls' victory at Stoke City last season after moving to S6 from Blackburn Rovers last summer.

He showed glimpses of his skill when he was on the pitch, most notably with his superb strike against Hull City, and will be hoping to enjoy a more successful stint on the pitch in the famous blue and white this season - starting with his return at Stadium MK this week.

I'd save him for the opening's a real risk playing him at all, nevermind a friendly. Do you really need him?

I know what you mean sheps but i suppose its only a risk if hes not fit. They wudnt play him if hes not fully recovered from the injury and risk him missing the start of the season. Hes got to get some game time at some point and a friendly is probably the best place to do it, where tackles wont be too hard (hopefully) and theres no expectations. Good luck to him. I think this cud be his last chance to save his career.

knowing Jeffers he doesn't need a tackle to get injured, he could probably manage it just running out of the tunnel. If he could stay fit though & you had him playing up top with someone who will do all the work then he will score goals.

Lets face it, finished 16th last season with half the squad (probably the better half) in the treatment room, if we get 30+ games from those players this season I can see a top half finish. My only concern is we still have a fairly small squad so a few injuries especially to key players may cause a problem. I have heard a rumour of an imminent takeover at S6, anybody else heard about this ;-))) An injection of cash would hopefully help BL boost the squad even if it's not until January, would happily take some loanies before then though!

NO-ONE TELL HIM!!! Sussex Owl honestly mate youre better of not knowing. You nearly opened a can of worms that will have you buying more newspapers and spending more time on the internet than is good for you. Ignorance in this case is bliss. In fact I might move to Sussex till its all over

Takeover, did somebody mention the T word? I'm beginning to be sick of the work takeover!! It's rapidly becoming my least favourite word in the english language, not sure which is currently my least favourite, probably blade!!

I know what everyones saying but that was a horrendous tackle by that arsewipe Shawcross of Stoke, as Jeffers was giving him a right run around in that game. He's a lot to prove, he's worked hard to get back to fitness, so lets give him some encouragement because on form, he's as good as anything in this division.

That one goal against Hull shows he has what it takes. I remember him well at Everton. It is only injuries which has prevented him from being one of the best. Wish him good luck cos he deserves it
