Sheard Clears Major Hurdle

The Yorkshire Post reports that the Geoff Sheard consortium has secured a commitment from the remaining major shareholders to sell.

Former board member Keith Addy and director Geoff Hulley met with Sheard in Sheffield today and appear to have ground out deals for their respective 10% stakes in Wednesday.

Irrespective of the result of the Wednesdayite ballot, the consortium would now appear to have access to the 30% it needs to take control at S6, with former chairman Dave Allen agreeing to sell some time ago.

Geoff Sheard must now provide proof of funding and arrange for his lawyers to tie up with those of Addy and Hulley within the week.

A major step forward towards a regime change at Hillsborough.

Ok...I'm going to go back to sleep and hope to HIGH HEAVEN THIS ISN'T A DREAM AND THE STORY IS STILL HERE WHEN I WAKE UP!!! I've spent the last few months trying to not get my hopes up, but MAN...It sounds close!
YankeeOwl
is Sally Gunnell part of the takeover consortium?
Norman
LOL second that YankeeOwl i just woke up after a nap and read this and I need a pinch to make sure I ain't still asleep dreaming can it be true finally after all this time!!! if so get in there! Irrespective of the result of the Wednesdayite ballot, the consortium would now appear to have access to the 30% it needs to take control at S6. This is the best news poss cos at least now it would give BL and Sheard some time to bring in some players b4 the start of the season!!! Looking at who's available Ben Watson would be the ideal midifeld general we've been crying out for since Whelan left, get Adam Johnson in on loan and then all we'd need is some defensive back up and a 20goal+ striker. And get the youngsters and the likes of Simek and Spurr on better contracts and on the back of a good pre-season for once and for once touch wood a clean bill of health too things are looking up!!! The future's bright the future's blue and white!!! *WTID*

mick66owl
Is that you dreaming Mick ? or getting bored of it all ?
Aston Owl
still time for wednesdayite to **** it up!!!!
swfcjambo
They wont swfcjambo, besides, Sheard can get to 30% without Wednesdayite's shares, so it doesnt make much difference
johnnywalker69
bored aston mate flipping bored
mick66owl
Cant believe it's happening at last, been a fan for 40 years and Yes I'm well excited by the prospect
Brighton Owl
Don't get too excited just yet. Even Shead is denying that a deal has been struck yet although they have moved closer. See link on Teamtalk.com http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,16368,1786_3864268,00.html

Same story is also being reported of the sheffield star web site.

Cheers Cliff I'll come back to earth
Brighton Owl
understand that Mick, but a lot has happended this last couple of week, think where we were two weeks ago, fingers crossed
Aston Owl
johnny i do think it makes a difference,we don't want hulley, addy or wednesdayite holding on to any shares,i would like sheard and his backers to have clear path to get on with things their way without any interruptions from any hangers on. so i say out with OLD in with the NEW!
ecco owl
yep aston at least it all seems to be happening. just wish now someone could put me to sleep and wake up when its done preferably before the 100years are up
mick66owl
I agree with you ecco owl, i think a change is definately needed, but i was referring to Sheard's target of 30% shares, which he can get without Wednesdayite
johnnywalker69
he could get more with the shareholders 12% plus the estimated 30% from allen,hulley.addy. so really as you say johnny he doesnt need wednesdayites shares if that was to happen and then with sheard owning roughly 42% it woud trigger compulsory purchase on rest anyhow
mick66owl
exactly mick66owl
johnnywalker69
what a bunch of creeps
wednesdaydoyle
ooooh it's so exciting. divies
wednesdaydoyle
Divies? What exactly is your problem wednesdaydoyle? Surely your team potentially getting taken over in the very near future is exciting?!
NicNac
I dont think he's a Wednesday fan NicNac
johnnywalker69
