Owls Are 'Days' From Takeover
Geoff Sheard has today revealed he should be in control at Hillsborough in a matter of days, after Wednesdayite agreed to sell their stake to his consortium last night.
The sale of the shares from fans group Wednesdayite wasn't the make or break to Sheard taking control at S6, but the decision last night from its members to sell their shares to his consortium seems to have fast-tracked the sale of the club.
And Sheard revealed on BBC Radio Sheffield this morning that a deal for him to take control at the club is just a matter of days, rather than weeks, away.
'This is a significant stage. We are now just days away,' Sheard told Radio Sheffield.
'It's great that their members have voted to sell and I thank them for that but as everyone is aware we are also talking to the other parties,' he added.
Sheard has also agreed deals with directors Geoff Hulley and ex-board members Dave Allen and Keith Addy to buy their 30 per cent stake in the club.
And there could well be an announcement of new ownership before Wednesday's opening clash of the Championship campaign at home to Burnley on Saturday, in which Sheard will be in attendance.
