Up To Two Months For Akpo

Up To Two Months For Akpo

Wednesday have been dealt a blow with the news that star striker Akpo Sodje could be missing for up two months.

The former Port Vale man started the season in electric form with two goals in the first 17 minutes in the 4-1 victory over Burnley before he was dealt a blow just minutes later in hobbling off the pitch after pulling up injured.

And scan results have now shown that Wednesday could be missing their start striker for up to two months of the season.

'He may have ruptured one of the tendons just behind the knee,' Laws told the Sheffield Star.

'We are going to have to have further investigations before we can get a full diagnosis and length of time he'll be out, though I have to say it's going to be for while - at least a month, probably up to a couple of months.

'It's a massive blow for us.'

Wednesday fans will be hoping for a swift return to action for Francis Jeffers, to plug the gap left by Sodje, although Leon Clarke could be given another chance against Rotherham United on Tuesday night.

forget clarke and won't be long before jeffers pulls up yet again leaving us just Tudgay and Burton we need to bring in at least one new striker b4 the transfer window closes if we're gonna have any chance of building from the promising pre-season and opening game

Terrible news and this is where we will discover our cover is inadequate, unless jeffers can remain fit and i think everyone would agree that is doubtful. in my mind the perfect replacement would be Cameron Jerome who is down the pecking order at birmingham now,if only the takeover had been completed earlier we may have had funds to get such a player. in reality we will have to go with what we have and the truth is without Sodje our attack is mediocre at best. it would be great to see clarke and jeffers prove us all wrong but i just can't see it happening.

Tudgay and Burton can do a good job over next two months, no probs, with clarke and Jeffers as back up. Lets not get down about it already

too late Aston,i'm down already with the news. we look a different team when akpo is leading the line, without him we look ordinary. i think we still need 1 class championship striker to complete our jigsaw.or we need to stay injury free for the next 2 months in attack.

If you buy injury prone players like Sodje and Jeffers than don't be suprised when they get injured. Only one way you can go now , down and into a relegation battle. enjoy your few minutes of glory.

well we can't go up any further being top and all that. as for enjoying the glory oh we are, very very much thanks.

When did Beattie last stay fit for a whole season??
11/08/2008 16:51:00
I'd have a punt on Clarke stepping up to the plate and give us a physical presence up front whilst Akpo is out! Where is Slusarski now anyway, does anybody know, I'd settle for him on a 3 month loan!!
