Up To Two Months For Akpo
Wednesday have been dealt a blow with the news that star striker Akpo Sodje could be missing for up two months.
The former Port Vale man started the season in electric form with two goals in the first 17 minutes in the 4-1 victory over Burnley before he was dealt a blow just minutes later in hobbling off the pitch after pulling up injured.
And scan results have now shown that Wednesday could be missing their start striker for up to two months of the season.
'He may have ruptured one of the tendons just behind the knee,' Laws told the Sheffield Star.
'We are going to have to have further investigations before we can get a full diagnosis and length of time he'll be out, though I have to say it's going to be for while - at least a month, probably up to a couple of months.
'It's a massive blow for us.'
Wednesday fans will be hoping for a swift return to action for Francis Jeffers, to plug the gap left by Sodje, although Leon Clarke could be given another chance against Rotherham United on Tuesday night.

Terrible news and this is where we will discover our cover is inadequate,unless jeffers can remain fit and i think everyone would agree that is doubtful.
in my mind the perfect replacement would be Cameron Jerome who is down the pecking order at birmingham now,if only the takeover had been completed earlier we may have had funds to get such a player.
in reality we will have to go with what we have and the truth is without Sodje our attack is mediocre at best.
it would be great to see clarke and jeffers prove us all wrong but i just can't see it happening.

i think we still need 1 class championship striker to complete our jigsaw.or we need to stay injury free for the next 2 months in attack.

I'd have a punt on Clarke stepping up to the plate and give us a physical presence up front whilst Akpo is out! Where is Slusarski now anyway, does anybody know, I'd settle for him on a 3 month loan!!

Ok, it's a blow but we'll have get over it. If ever a challenge was thrown down in front of Big Leon this is it. Leon, if you want to play at this level show us what you can do. Go on big man! Oh and bluntblade I'm just glad Billy Sharp chose your club and not ours. Two million on a league one player. As for everyone else if we had the money Cameron Jerome would be great, didn't we have him briefly at our academy? D'oh! Since we don't have any money lets just support the team hope we make through the next two months.

gutted. I think Akpo could be the difference between mid-table and playoffs this season. I just read on bbc website that its knee tendon damage. Hope he has a speedy recovery

Akpo needs to instill a bit of Sodj-iness in Clarke. A bit more determination (and a lot more confidence) and Leon'll be fine
