Owls boss Paul Sturrock was famously quoted as saying that Wednesday winger Chris Brunt could either turn up to a match as David Beckham or his wife Victoria. With only nine matches of the season remaining, we asked the Vital Sheffield Wednesday users what they thought.
A majority of 66 per cent thought the Northern Irish international resembled Posh rather than England captain David this season - despite Brunt being the club's top scorer so far this season with seven goals to his name.
The 22-year-old's form has dipped of late, with some Wednesday fans taking out their frustrations on some 'lazy' performances. He hasn't been playing regularly on his preferred left wing though, with Sturrock using him on the right wing as much as the left.
He showed how capable he was of succeeding in this division by some excellent performances midway through the season - which saw him called up to the full Northern Ireland squad on a number of occassions. He also drew attention from Premiership clubs such as Manchester City.
His stunning effort in the 3-2 win against Coventry City in October won him the 'Soccer Night Extra' goal of the season by viewers of the ITV1 show. He almost bettered that by scoring in the 2-1 victory against Leicester City in January.
It's no surprise then, that as Brunt's performances have dropped, so have the team's.
The other 34 per cent will hope that Brunt can re-capture his mid season form ala Beckham and help the Owls beat relegation back to League One. There's no doubt the boy has talent - and at just 21 years of age he could be the first Wednesday player in a long time to be worth any amount of money - should we play our cards right.
