'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Premier League Defender Today

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has revealed that he's hoping to sign a young defender from a Premier League club today to plug the gap at right-back.

Laws has been desperately scouting the country for a right-back to replace Richard Hinds, who broke his leg in the defeat at Wolves at the weekend and is expected to be sidelined for around three months.

'We have been identifying right backs who are available and we have been looking at their fitness levels, as anybody who goes on loan won't have been playing league matches,' Laws told the Sheffield Star.

'We've identified a player - a young player from a Premier League club - who will fit into our system, can play from the back, and is hungry and wants to do well.

'The loan will be initially for a month, with a view to a longer loan.
'We were pleased with the attitude and contribution of our loan players last season; I believe this lad will make an impact.'

But the Owls boss has denied reports that the signing will be young Chelsea star Jack Cork, who was linked with a summer move to S6.
