'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Duo Linked With Owls

Another Sunday, another list of rumours linking Wednesday boss Brian Laws with new signings - this time in the shape of Hull's Dean Windass and Sunderlands's Anthony Stokes.

The Sunday People are reporting that Laws is looking at bringing Windass, who has dropped down the pecking order at the KC Stadium since securing promotion to the Premiership, in on a loan deal, with Akpo Sodje and Francis Jeffers both on the sidelines through injury.

And the News Of The World is also reporting Laws is hoping to bring in a new striker, but he'll be battling it out with Leeds United for Sunderland striker Anthony Stokes - again on a loan deal.

Laws has Deon Burton and Marcus Tudgay at his disposal at the moment, although back-up striker Leon Clarke has come in for some stick from Wednesdayites following some lacklustre performances.

And that could well force Laws to dive in to the loan market before both Sodje and Jeffers return from their respective injuries.

Sunderland boss Roy Keane has already revealed that Stokes will benefit from going out on loan, and has said he could well be making a move to a Championship club - leaving Wednesday the favourites for his signature ahead of Yorkshire rivals Leeds.

But Windass is also an option after Hull boss Phil Brown looks to strengthen his side to survive in the Premier League.

Can't see any of these stories to be true, unless the takeover happens soon, because we aint got a pot to p*ss in at the moment!

yes mate i agree..windass can still do a great job at this level and would be a great signing if we could get him!
WORKSOP..OWL
Hasn't Laws stated that there will be no further additions to the squad in the foreseeable future? Only possible improvement to the playing squad will be after the takeover (if it ever happens!!!)

I'd be happy to get rid of those 3 for nowt just to get them off the wage bill!

windass COULD be good for us but thats only 1 striker. if and when we do get rid of lunt gilbert clarke, we will be even thinner, sussexowl i know wot u mean tho.WTID!!!

I disagree about getting rid of Clarke and Gilbert. It will be a suicidal thing, leaves us with no cover whatsoever in positions we are weak right now. But Lunt, man, I don't see why we don't put him for sale for 5K. Somebody would buy him, right? Or 3K and percentage of next sale :)

Lunt could go for free as far as I'm concerned and I think BL would too (I think BL actually said he could go for free if an offer came in for him). Problems there are that the greedy tW@t is on better wages here than he could get anywhere else and the club haven't received any interest in him.
