Laws Rejects Halls Move

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has turned down the chance to sign former Reading and Stoke City defender John Halls after he failed to impress on trial at S6.

Laws took the former Arsenal youth system product on a trial at the start of the week with a view to signing him following injuries to Frank Simek and Richard Hinds, leaving his defensive options wafer thin.

Halls played the full 90 minutes as Wednesday's reserve string fell to a crushing 6-2 defeat against their Shrewsbury Town counterparts in the Central League last night (Wednesday).

The Owls boss was in attendance at the clash to look over the defender, but has decided against giving him a deal and lookingn elsewhere to strengthen at the back.

Tony McMahon impressed at right-back after signing on month's loan deal from Middlesbrough, and Laws could well look to extend it beyond a month should Simek fail to return from injury in time.
