Wood Interest Grows

Wood Interest Grows

Rumours linking Owls' captain Richard Wood with a move away from Hillsborough have re-surfaced with the transfer deadline just a matter of days away.

The Wakefield-born defender, who was given the team captain armband for the 2008-09 campaign, was linked with a move to Championship rivals Coventry City over the summer.

And reports in the Midlands are now saying that Sky Blues' boss Chris Coleman is preparing a deal to take the 23-year-old to the Ricoh Arena in the next week.

But the Owls are likely to reject any approach for their skipper, with Brian Laws already wafer thin with options at the back, and Geoff Sheard looking to complete a deal with his consortium to takeover at S6.

Birmingham City and Crystal Palace are also said to be interested in Wood's services.

needs to be a offer in excess of 4million or tell them to go forth

I do agree mick but i cant see the club rejecting anything around 2 million mark.

If we let him go it is total suicide. We can't replace him and we've got no back up at the club.

I just can't see us letting him go under any circumstances. Yes we'd get some cash for him but it'd cost us to replace him and where would we find anyone as good as Woody who would want to come and play for us int he state we're in at the moment. Can't believe Woody would desert us at this stage either.

you cant sell key players this close to deadline day its insane! no time to find a replacement. lose your captain. put a massive hole in a quality back 4. and destroy the squads moral. whats happening with this takeover. i was really looking forward to seeing us hold on 2 our best players and not accepting any bid going to reduce debt and with it the quality of our team sell wood and we,re looking at the drop end of.

Wood is best player at club, to let him go would be absolute insanity.

cant see why Wood would want to go to Cov or Palace, 2 clubs smaller than Wednesday. Brum could be intresting, but would he break into their back 4?

We wont let him go, it would put the whole sale fo the club at risk ( if it ever happens ), plus would devalue the boards share's, as we would be in relegation trouble by xmas if we let woddy go. Cant see it happening, board wont sanction it, unless like mick says it near the £4m mark

Can't see it happening at all myself although as Worksop said Birmingham would be interesting. Bobo Balde has just refused them this morning so fingers crossed they don't come looking for Wood as their next option.
