Wood Interest Grows

Rumours linking Owls' captain Richard Wood with a move away from Hillsborough have re-surfaced with the transfer deadline just a matter of days away.

The Wakefield-born defender, who was given the team captain armband for the 2008-09 campaign, was linked with a move to Championship rivals Coventry City over the summer.

And reports in the Midlands are now saying that Sky Blues' boss Chris Coleman is preparing a deal to take the 23-year-old to the Ricoh Arena in the next week.

But the Owls are likely to reject any approach for their skipper, with Brian Laws already wafer thin with options at the back, and Geoff Sheard looking to complete a deal with his consortium to takeover at S6.

Birmingham City and Crystal Palace are also said to be interested in Wood's services.

needs to be a offer in excess of 4million or tell them to go forth
mick66owl
I do agree mick but i cant see the club rejecting anything around 2 million mark.
TarnOwl
If we let him go it is total suicide. We can't replace him and we've got no back up at the club.
Disgruntled Owl
I just can't see us letting him go under any circumstances. Yes we'd get some cash for him but it'd cost us to replace him and where would we find anyone as good as Woody who would want to come and play for us int he state we're in at the moment. Can't believe Woody would desert us at this stage either.
SuperOwls
you cant sell key players this close to deadline day its insane! no time to find a replacement. lose your captain. put a massive hole in a quality back 4. and destroy the squads moral. whats happening with this takeover. i was really looking forward to seeing us hold on 2 our best players and not accepting any bid going to reduce debt and with it the quality of our team sell wood and we,re looking at the drop end of.
owler
Wood is best player at club, to let him go would be absolute insanity.
aball2112
cant see why Wood would want to go to Cov or Palace, 2 clubs smaller than Wednesday. Brum could be intresting, but would he break into their back 4?
WorksopsNumber1
We wont let him go, it would put the whole sale fo the club at risk ( if it ever happens ), plus would devalue the boards share's, as we would be in relegation trouble by xmas if we let woddy go. Cant see it happening, board wont sanction it, unless like mick says it near the £4m mark
Aston Owl
Keep your hands off our (my) Wood
S6Apple
Can't see it happening at all myself although as Worksop said Birmingham would be interesting. Bobo Balde has just refused them this morning so fingers crossed they don't come looking for Wood as their next option.
McQuaid-Owls
You will have to sell him if someone makes you a good offer. You have mounting debts and no likelyhood of a takeover. Stop deluding yourselves that you can keep your better players when recent times have proved the opposite. Relegtion battle looms for the oinkers i'm afraid.
sharpblades
What do you know sharpblades, you've already proved you know nothing about football by following utd, ha ha ha!
sussexowl
I read yesterday that the funds for the takeover are now in and HSBC account in London, so depsite all of the delays, it still could happen
dobby1
Seriously if Sheard is genuine why has he not made a statement on why its taking so long ? he stated it would be done in a few days weeks ago !!
Aston Owl
ADMIN PLEASE ANSWER ME THIS. Why do my comments on here keep getting deleted ? We have fans of United coming on here giving us grief and you allow that to stay on here but as soon as I reply you delete it.
Skeggy Owl
skeggy.... because two wrongs don't make a right.
Norman
Sheard's had a lot on and has done well to get as far as he has with an unecessarily complicated transaction. The takeover will go ahead. Mark my words. Reckon we'll hang on to Wood too.
GameBurton07
Skeggy, the site is meant to be policed by the ed but we also keep an eye on it (should be answering this in the vitaladmin logins but I'm tired so sod it) It isn't just your posts that go, most of them are the childish posts by a few users who should know better from another team. We also try to do the same on their site. However if we delete their comments it makes sense to then delete the answers to their comments otherwise the thread makes no sense. We aren't perfect, we do miss things though! It will get to the stage where some will have to be banned if they can't talk sensibly!
The Fear
Thanks Fear for answering this for me. I totally understand, Im just sick and tired of the other "fans" coming on here and being immature with their comments. Like others have said if they want to come on here and have a bit of banter and generally talk football then fine, but if thats not the case then Id rather they didnt bother.
Skeggy Owl
No problems, I think we'll have to get coding so that we can ban individuals from specific sites, not the network as a whole. We do want banter but as others have said, not the childish stuff!
The Fear
like i've said i have agreed to use this site now as it should be and you should do the same. your right skeggy it make the whole experience hard work and annoying. so here's to a change from now!!! ok? cheers
