Owls Take Spann On Trial

Wednesday have taken Trinidad and Tobago midfielder Silvio Spann on trial after the midfielder turned down a two-year contract extension from his club Yokohama FC.

The 24-year-old has previously attracted interest from Crystal Palace and Derby County and has played for Perugia and Dinamo Zagreb before moving to Japan.

He told the Soca Warriors website:''The club in itself has been great for me and it's one of the seasons in my career that I will cherish for a long time to come. But at the end of the day, I am keeping my options open and hopefully something good will come along.''

Owls boss Paul Sturrock has made it clear that an experienced central midfielder is a priority for the club, and Spann certainly has experience after helping his club to the World Cup finals in Germany.
