Laws Praises Swansea

Wednesday boss Brian Laws was thankful to leave Wales with a point against Swansea at the weekend, and left the Liberty Stadium with nothing but praise for Roberto Martinez's side.

Steve Watson's 70th minute header saw Wednesday make the long trip back to South Yorkshire with a point to show for their efforts against an impressive Swansea side who've brought their momentum from League One last season to a higher level.

And although Laws insists his side were somewhat 'fortunate', he revealed post-match that he'd have taken a point from a place where not many sides will leave with wins this season prior to the clash.

'Swansea showed what a good side they are,' Laws told the official SWFC website.

'They have a fantastic stadium, there is a great atmosphere here and they are taking their momentum forward from last season.

'They gave us a tough time, particularly in the first half when a lot of our play was very negative in the way we passed the ball. But we held firm and at half time I thought we were quite fortunate that it was only 1-0.

'In the second half we had to dig in and they started making mistakes but overall I am delighted that we are taking a point home. I would have settled for that before the game anyway and it shows that when we are not playing well we can dig in and get a result.'

Good to see Laws praising the opposition, wasn't known for it in his Scunny days perhaps he's growing up!
