Laws - Owls' Pride Restored

Owls boss Brian Laws was left pleased with a share of the spoils against Ipswich Town at the weekend and insists it was important to restore some pride after the 6-0 defeat at Reading.

Laws revealed that confidence in the Wednesday camp was low following the humiliation at Reading in midweek and that keeping a clean sheet against one of the Championship's promotion favourites will help his men restore their pride, and confidence.

'We certainly got a bit of pride back considering Tuesday's heavy defeat and coming into today's game against a good side; Ipswich have spent heavily this year, expectations are extremely high,' Laws told the official Wednesday website.

'We were unlucky in the first half not to have broken through - Marcus Tudgay had a couple of good chances and as the game went on we started to get a bit nervous.

'That was to be expected after a heavy defeat but we will gain confidence from that in the fact that we stopped the rot. That's a good sign from the players that they have got character and they have got the performance from Tuesday night out of their systems.'

He continued: 'The opposition would have been rubbing their hands and saying let's get at them early.

'We have kept it tight in the first half but second half they stepped it up and we had to dig in really deep.'

The Owls supremo will be looking to build on the result ahead of Wednesday's next Championship clash, at Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
