Keys - Takeover Saga Nearing End

Keys - Takeover Saga Nearing End

Wednesdayite chairman Darryl Keys has revealed that he'd be 'extremely surprised' if the takeover saga at S6 isn't resolved in one way or another in the next fortnight.

The on-off deal being put together by a consortium led by Lancashire businessman Geoff Sheard has been in talks regarding a takeover of the Owls for months, but as time has passed by Owls' fans have grown increasingly concerned, and fed up, with the on-going saga, with little or no end in sight.

Sheard came under fire in the press last week regarding the people involved in the deal, but Wednesdayite have since met with the Lancastrian at Hillsborough when he was again in the directors' box for the visit of Ipswich Town at the weekend.

And one way or another, Keys insists a conclusion to the matter is not far away as far as Geoff Sheard is concerned.

'He understands he needs to speed up the process but there are no guarantees; it is all extremely complicated,' Keys told the Sheffield Star.

He continued: 'This is the start of the end-game. There are other people who have expressed some interest and I would say there are options if the Sheard bid should fall through.,' he added.

'But we are now moving towards the conclusion whatever that may be. I would be extremely surprised if it is not sorted in two weeks.

'We were happy to help and, for everyone's sake, we all want something to happen soon.'

Well, if Wednesdayite say it's true, it must be.

I wish to god that all various parties would STOP with the "it'll all be over in a week or two" rubbish..... I don't care or believe it. When it happens ,then and only then will I believe. With all the reports, rumours, gossip, etc, I can't make up my mind as to if it's a good idea or not for this take over fronted by GS. All I do know is that I've had enough of all the small talk, I'd rather be kept in the dark until something solid is set in place. owls"VERY"mad!!!!

I can't help but get a bad vibe from this article. It seems very negative to me - "one way or another"..."no guarantees"..."all very complicated" - feels like they're preparing us for the worst!

If it takes Sheard this long to secure funding for the takeover, how long will it take for him to secure transfer funds should a takeover even happen? I wanted the takeover like everyone else, but we're a long way now since talk of Shearer being manager with £50 million a season to spend. So much of all this has turned out to be b0llocks which is why we have all grown so cynical.
