Jeffers Continues His Return

Wednesday striker Francis Jeffers continued his comeback to full fitness after completing 70 minutes and scoring in the reserves' 4-2 victory over Walsall last night.

The former Everton and Arsenal 'fox in the box' has been upping his return to full fitness, with a late appearance in the stalemate against Ipswich making his return to first team action.

And he could feature again when Wednesday make the long trip down to Charlton Athletic this weekend after coming through the reserve encounter unscathed and with more minutes under his belt.

Another plus point of the night was the performance of striker Leon Clarke, who impressed and scored two goals in the victory, Rocky Lekaj also continuing his fine reserve team form with the other goal.

And Wade Small, who also made his first first-team appearance of the season against Ipswich at the weekend, also completed 65 minutes to up his match fitness.

Wednesday: O'Donnell, L Lekaj, McMenamin, Liversidge, Wragg, Small, Lunt, Smith R Lekaj, Jeffers, Clarke. Subs: N Wood, Worsfold, Tunnard, Pratt, Harrison.

Still wouldn't risk him on Satrurday as a starter yet, maybe the Forest game is a bit more realistic

You piggy’s must be really embarrassed, all you do is bang on about Wednesday being the poor relations, It is true we don’t have half as much money as you, our squad is half the size of yours, its worth half as less as yours…. But look at the league, and that’s pretty much been the theme since the start of the season, Laugh all you want at the Takeover saga, with or without it we’re still classed as the better Team in Sheffield right now.

And us Wednesday fans don't sue for £30 million, just because we weren't good enough in our last twelve matches to stay up.

I personally believe Jeffers should be thrown into heavy action. Enough of this "let's not rush him in" crap. He's a good player technically, all he needs is to change his mentality and he'll be a star again. So just give him a start against Charlton and let's see what he does. Play him I say, play him. First eleven.

He's a big lad now and he has done a lot of 'off the field' training. The only way to know if he is ready for the first team is to get him in the starting line up.
