Spurr To Miss Derby?

Spurr To Miss Derby?

Wednesday could suffer a blow ahead of the first Steel City derby of the season with the news that Tommy Spurr could well be out of the match through injury.

Spurr, and ever-present for Wednesday this season at the back, took a knock late-on in the 4-0 defeat at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday and Owls boss Brian Laws feared the worst for the youngster.

'Tommy is in a lot of pain and there's a lot of swelling on the ankle. I have to say it doesn't look good,' he told the official SWFC website after the match.

'But Tommy is a very fit lad and a quick healer so we'll have to wait and see.'

The international break could mean Spurr is back in action sooner than anticipated, with Laws expected to find out the exact damage to his young defender early this week.

But Peter Gilbert and Richard Wood are both expected to be fit and available for the Owls' next game in two weeks' time, while Mark Beevers also returned to the fold at Home Park after sitting out the previous matches through injury.

How long before Sodje is back? Surely it's getting on for the original 6 week estimate?? Not heard a thing about it for ages. Same for Simek

BFL - Doesn't it bother you that of recent years you persistantly enter these derbies as the favourites yet you struggle to come away with anything? All that financial backing too... That said you're raking millions of quid and spending it on the likes of Brian Howard. Talk about setting your sights high. Being honest, I reckon the Wednesday lads are up against it this time round, but Biggins better bring his A-game because as we've seen over the course of last season, Sheffield United don't have, and probably never will have the heart and desire on the pitch that The Owls do. UTO!!!
