Owls Line Up Clarke Loan Move

Wednesday are said to be lining up a loan move for out-of-favour striker Leon Clarke to release funds to strengthen at the back.

The striker has long been linked with a move away from S6 after failing to win over the fans and management alike at Hillsborough following his arrival from Wolves.

And now Owls boss Brian Laws is set to give the green light for Clarke to make the move from Wednesday to pave the way for a new defender to come in to the club on loan.

Clarke was all set for a move to Southend United last season after impressing at Roots Hall while on loan in League One, a spell which saw him bag seven goals, but the move collapsed at the eleventh hour.

He returned to S6 to play a part in the Owls' survival in the Championship towards the end of last season, bagging two crucial goals against Leicester City and Norwich respectively, but has since failed to nail down a starting spot.

And with the return of Francis Jeffers almost complete, and Akpo Sodje still to return to the fold, Clarke could well be deemed surplus to requirements at Hillsborough.

stuart_hudson78
you lot can ***** off, if you hadnt knocked him so much he might have been useful for us, he is very big and strong and sometimes we lack strength, but no, you fake fans have knock and boo and criticise.
ozzietheowl
Your right ozzie, he is very big. Unfortunately, thats just about it.
aball2112
I tried backing him, ozzie, I really did but to quote benowl "he does my head in". He has strength, height, a great touch and can score goals but week in week out he's just chuffing useless. I don't understand it, I really don't.
robc
Anyone think that it might be his confidence thats shot to pieces due to the fact of people booing him just about every time he was on the pitch. That just shows me how immature some people can be sometime when they think they are doing themselves a favour.
Skeggy Owl
You can`t just out it down to lack of confidence . All players go through spells of low confidence but they come good at some point.
Handsworth Owl
when he was at southend (yes i realise that they were the league below) the fans were on his side and he was playing well, same goes for oldham. some players thrive on confidence, hes not got a bad scoring record in fact as far as goals to minutes on pitch go he is probably doing alot better then deon burton.
ozzietheowl
hes also been playing well in the reserves scoring 4 in 5.
ozzietheowl
just get rid of lunt now as well and bring in one half decent player one that can actually do something in the first team and we should be ok
BIG TONY
Get rid of clarke and lunt of our wage structure and bring back steve mclean.
stuart_hudson78
at the end of the day ozzie he's not good enough mate
benowl
Doesn't matter how good or bad he is, we shouldnt be booing any player in a wednesday shirt. Let the manager decide if he's good enough to earn a start. Considering our injuries we're not in the position to pick and choose our best team
Norman
Steve maclean - are you joking?
Radon Barrier
i agree with norman. we as wednesday fans should not get on any1s bk hu puts that blue n white shirt on. we should get behind them 100%. All you people that say he's crap he's not he is good you got 2 give him chance
maltby_owl
at walkers last year he saved me a heart attack by making it 3-1 andkilling the game if leicester had nicked a 2nd we'd have been in trouble, i've always liked him in that anti-hero ungamely way like ashley giles, peter crouch
