Good Point For Battling Young Owls

The Owls faced strong opposition again this week in the form of Middlesbrough and they came out the other side with a good point and some impressive individual performances.

After falling a goal behind to the renowned academy of the North East side, the very youthful looking Owls could have crumbled, but Wednesday`s youngsters rallied back to win a point, one that could so easily have turned into three.

A twenty yard curling free kick from 1st year Jack Barnett put the Owls back on level terms. They then took the initiative and came close to taking the lead on a few occasions.

Individually, Liam Palmer impressed again after bagging a goal for the Reserves midweek. Debutant Keeper Alex Wileman pulled off a few good saves and didn`t look unnerved by the standard. Nathan Modest also caused problems for the Boro defence as the first years continue to shine.

It all bodes well for McAuley`s youngsters and they will be looking to pick up their first win of the season away to Huddersfield next week. There will be a full report from that game…hopefully!
