'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wednesday Continue Loan Search

Wednesday boss Brian Laws insists he'll keep looking for a loan signing even if the injury problems at Hillsborough improve in the coming days.

Long-term absentees Akpo Sodje and Frank Simek are both reported to be winning their race to return to the Owls' squad sooner rather than later, while Richard Wood is also read to return for Sunday's Steel City derby at S6 and Tommy Spurr isn't being counted out of action just yet.

But depsite the improvement on the injury front, Laws is still looking to strengthen at the back with another loan signing to ease any fears over further problems.

'We have to be properly prepared for this period,' he told The Sheffield Star.

'We can't assume that all three of those defenders are going to be fit and well or that our back four is going to be the same at the end of this period as it was at the start; It's probably not going to happen.

'It's going to be a really testing time for our squad.'

Wednesday face two huge South Yorkshire derby matches in the space of just three days, hosting Sheffield United at Hillsborough on Sunday afternoon before making the short trip to Oakwell to face Barnsley onn Tuesday night.

Have they managed to get shot of Leon yet?

Seems to have gone all quiet around Hillsborough on ALL fronts! Hopefully Simek and Sodje will be back SOON, we sure as hell need 'em! Looks like Sheard has done one on us so we can't keep relying on his money appearing, does anyone know anything else about this situation??

And also, it's all well and good getting a quick fix with all these loan signings but we need long term! Players can't gel as a team in a month or two's time. Just as we start getting used to one another someone will go back to their club and we're in s**t creek again!
