'If It's Football, It's Vital'

O'Brien Slams Owls' Style

Former Wednesday midfielder Burton O'Brien has stuck the boot in to Wednesday by revealing he wasn't enjoying his time in the Championship with the Owls.

The midfielder left the club in the summer to return to the SPL with Falkirk, alongside former Wednesday team-mate Lee Bullen, and he revealed to the Daily Record that he's enjoying the style of football played by the Bairns in comparison to his time at S6.

'I never really enjoyed my football in England. Although I played over 100 games I wasn't enjoying it. I wasn't homesick or anything, I just didn't enjoy the style,' he said.

'The English League was great and I enjoyed the atmospheres and the full stadiums every week but it was more the actual way the football is played.

'I'd say that in the Championship there are only four of five teams who actually try to get the ball down and play. Unfortunately, Sheffield Wednesday aren't one of them.

'I enjoyed my time there and the experience but I really didn't enjoy the football.'

Maybe that's the reason BOB was non-existant in seventy-five per cent of the matches he played in in the famous blue and white, and the reason the Wednesday have done so well since his departure...

Cheers, BOB!

We didn't enjoy your "do sod all" style of player either Bob.......

He's playing up to the Jocks. he was out of favour as he was a winger at the same time as Brunt, Esejas Johnson and Small so Im not sure what style of play he wanted. I shouldnt be too hard on him I remember his debut goal against Brighton which kept us up.

I don't quite see how this is much of a cheap shot or sticking the boot in. Reading between the lines, it just seems that he wasn't good enough and let's face it, if you're not good enough for Wednesday in the last couple of seasons, you're not a world beater. Hence him going to Falkirk, which I imagine is closer to his level. I always thought he was alright, but never much more than that. Bye bye BOB and if Falkirk play a better style of football than us, I wonder if they'd be interested in a sensational playmaker on our books going by the name of Lenny

Like the Irish, he aint bitter.........oops, what I mean to say is get over yourself BOB. You had a few good games for us but other than that you were average at best. Go and back to your thermals and Scottish leagues.
