Owls Trio Up Fitness Levels

Wednesday reserves were thrashed 5-0 by their Middlesbrough counterparts but three first teamers upped their fitness levels in preparation for first team action.

Frank Simek, Akpo Sodje and Francis Jeffers all got vital game time in the clash at the Riverside on Tuesday night, while Peter Gilbert, Wade Small and Deon Burton were also invovled.

Jeffers and Sodje, the pairing many Owls' fans would like to see when the duo are both fully fit, both got 75 minutes each while Simek played the full 90 minutes.

Jeffers and Sodje are both excpected to be on the bench when Wednesday make the trip to Derby County in the Championship on Saturday, although Simek's return could well be put on the back-burner following the loan signings of Tony McMahon and Lewis Buxton.

Wade Small could also return to the bench for the trip to Pride Park after completing the full 90 minutes.
