Owls Crock Watch

We should make this a regular feature! Here's a midweek update on the Wednesday walking wounded.

Wingers Etienne Esajas and Wade Small didn't feature last weekend against Derby, the flying Dutchman has a niggly achilles and Waders has.. any guesses? Yep, that's right, a hamstring problem. Scan results will shortly determine the extent of those injuries, plus the recurrence of tendon trouble suffered by Akpo Sodje. The bustling Owls frontman left the field after an hour against the Rams.. boss Brian Laws commented on Sodje's injury on the official site thus: 'It settled down pretty quickly last time. Hopefully it will settle down the same this time and he'll be okay for the weekend.'

In more positive news, a host of Owls first teamers got in a solid 90 minutes in a 2-1 reserve defeat against Grimsby. Francis Jeffers got the Owls on the scoresheet, teamed up front with Deon Burton. Valuable game time also for Frank Simek and the two loanees Lewis Buxton and Jimmy Smith - those five players will be pushing for a start at the weekend, along with Peter Gilbert, who is also expected to be fit.

Update: And now our Tommy has a dead leg.. Spurr told the official site: "I took three whacks to the leg at Derby and the muscle is sore at the moment, particularly when I bend the leg. We'll see how things go over the next couple of days, obviously I don't want to miss a game."

laws is to blame for akpo's injury as he was too bothered about causing excitment and playing him in your cup final against us!!!!!

seth is a wendy fatty!!

And who won that cup final, bfl? Hmm, seems like it was... us!

think you have gone away from the original comment there auckland?? just imagine risking all your so called 'excellent players' against your might rivals, and then getting relegated!! nevertheless i'm sure you will find some excuse to fabricate when you do go down. The injury sob will be the main excuse not the bad management of rushing players back just to cause a hype when they arnt ready!!
bladesforlife1889
'The Wiggles' - is that another name for you lot??

BFL....you really really need to get a life mate. You're without a shadow of a doubt the most tedious poster I've ever had the misfortune to come across on a football message board. It's just really tedious. If you've got nothing better to do than come onto a Wednesday fansite and constantly try and wind people up then I really pity your miserable existence.

he is a bit of a joke, but so is the physio set up, sodje was far from rushed back the pig match was 8 weeks after an injury which was supposed to keep him out for 6 weeks then he got nursed back for another 4 weeks and pulls up in his first start-this is a player who is in no way injury prone, and has been pretty much crock free for his entire career, just seems like any minor niggle or twinge turns into a season long fitness battle

p.s whiny excuses are your area moonpig

pfl you make out like its a bad thing that our biggest game of the season is against you lot, u call it our cup final, but isnt that exactly how your manager described it??? your cup final, your biggest game of the season, oh yea he did, and oh yea you lost WATSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON

PFL is a complete dick.

Hamstrings are notoriously difficult to heal though. Just look at Wade "Hamstring" Small. On a plus note, Lunt has bogged off to Crewe at last. That should surely free up some funds to get a midflielder / winger in on loan..........
